1947 Buick Street Rod Chopped Top Convertible
Exterior paint finished in Custom Crimson Red & Blue Pearl with ghost flames complemented by a White leather interior & canvas convertible top.
This car has it all. When was the last time you saw a Buick droptop this cool? The builder started with a 70K mile rust free original car that was in surprisingly good shape. The stock frame was cleaned & painted before a ’66 Buick Skylark rebuilt subframe was grafted into place. A Buick 350 C.I. V-8 rebuilt using the stock steel crankshaft, 11:1 flattop pistons and a Lunati 270 camshaft. The stock heads were polished to allow a smooth fuel flow from the stock intake & 600 CFM Edelbrock carburetor. Spent gasses exit from the stock exhaust manifolds through 2-1/4″ aluminized pipes & turbo mufflers. A generous amount of eye candy under the hood was added complete with a custom engine cover.
The body received a fair amount of custom work also. The trunk & door handles were shaved & smoothed with required remote entry. The hood was peeked & chopped 1-1/2″ along with added scoops on each side. Front & rear bumpers were added from a ’47 Chrysler. Jaguar headlights & ’54 Nash taillights were used. The front gravel pan was raised 4″, then the grille was recessed 3″ and cut off to accomodate the gravel pan. The original dash & Buick instruments were retained. A Cadillac steering wheel was used, A/C & heat by Hagerty was added, along with a Baupunkt audio system. Polished 15″ Weld alloy wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
